Port Automation PDS GPS

Implementing a Position Detection System (PDS) by Global Positioning System (GPS) accurately captures the placement and movement of containers, under all yard configurations, by overcoming the technical challenges of heavy metal, densely packed container environments. It also reflects the commitment to improve port security measures.

PDS enables automated position identification and allows the fast retrieval of containers while in a densely stacked seaport and rail facility. It also determines the gap between identification systems at the gate against those positioning solutions in the yard. This solution gives the yard operators better control in monitoring the inventory levels of containers, improve the movement of these same containers throughout the yard, and as a result, achieve efficiency in the overall loading, unloading and storage of all cargoes.

This PDS GPS solution provides real-time information which, under normal circumstances, could only be possible through a systematic manual support.

As an added bonus, this innovative solution at the same time enhances security considerations against theft and pilferages. The ability to identify correct location and placement of containers always have a significant impact on the safety and reliability of port operations.

Only a rail automation service module can meet this challenge.

The SIPL Rail OCR Portal takes the next step in providing vastly enhanced tracking and identification of containerized cargo that moves via the rail. The system is flexible enough to provide identification and tracking of rail equipment and containers for the following operational scenarios:

  • Marine container terminals (with on-dock rail tracks)
  • Traditional intermodal ramps
  • Multi-tenant interchange yards
  • Along high-speed mainline tracks
